Our Program Details

AWARENESS & EMPATHY

The experience was created to be realistic.  The Hosts are not trained professionals, but rather intelligent blind or visually impaired people from all walks of life.  Participants must deal with confusion, chaos, and time limits that are required to be worked through as a team. Each challenge is followed by short discussion on what the participants just experienced and how it relates to the everyday challenge to the blind or visually impaired.  From this authentic program design, the participants build awareness and empathy. 

TEAMWORK

The program design requires that every individual must rely on and collaborate with the other participants to accomplish the assigned tasks.  Without the use of their vision, each participant is required to use their other senses throughout the experience.  Listening skills become essential for not only understanding directions, but also for communication among the participants.  Group problem-solving is required throughout the program.  Without their sight, the group must find a common language to accomplish the challenges.  This adaptive environment makes Beyond Our Sight a unique and effective team building event.

DIVERSITY & SOCIAL INCLUSION

Besides providing much needed employment to our blind or visually impaired Program Hosts, they share their personal experiences and challenges with the participants, making it a truly soulful view into disabilities, adversity and diversity. This extends to acceptance of disabilities beyond vision impairments. The program strives to relate to each individual whose backgrounds or values may be different, whether it be in the workplace or social environments.

PROGRAM NOTES

The Beyond Our Sight experience is always live, whether it be in a virtual, in-person, or hybrid format. Our programs are designed to fit tight schedules with an hour long program, or a ninety minute experience for those who want to experience more of the impactful, customizable content that makes our events uniquely memorable. Our premiere program delivers an intimate team building experience for groups of five to ten participants, and we are available to provide larger groups with an impactful and meaningful event that redefines the typical team building experience.
